Will & Company artists offer both long and short term residencies on theatre. Workshops include Acting, Shakespeare’s life and times, Shakespeare’s plays, Swordplay and Playwriting. Many long term residencies tie theatre to a core subject like History, Language Arts or Science. Following is a list showing the variety of recent workshops:
Huntington Library 5 session residency for 4th graders entitled All the World’ s a Stage. Explored Shakespeare, studied the First Folio in the library’s collection, used theatre games and reading aloud (Shakespeare’s quotes and tongue twisters) to warm up the voice and body. Toured the Shakespeare garden and drew pictures of the flowers mentioned in Hamlet. Performed staged pictures of Hamlet.
Pearblossom Elementary 15 session residency for 4th 5th and 6th grade tying theatre to subjects taught currently in each of the classrooms. Themes explored were conflict/resolution, the Birth of a Nation, Ancient Civilizations and Improvisation. William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar was the unifying subject.
